Next door, Dinosaur Valley RV Park runs 80-foot pull-through sites with full hookups and direct trail access to the Paluxy River. Fossil Rim Wildlife Center and Dinosaur World are both a short drive, which keeps traffic steady well outside peak season.
That 40-foot ceiling is worth checking before you book. Plenty of fifth wheels and Class A coaches that fit a resort pad will not fit a partial-hookup state park site, and discovering it on arrival makes for a bad afternoon.
The Paluxy is a limestone river and Somervell County sits on rocky, shallow-soil ground. Unlevel and rocky pads are harder on leveling systems and slide mechanisms than flat prepared concrete, and that is where the work here concentrates — jacks that will not seat, slides fighting a frame that is not square to the ground.
